Massive brush fire on old Brusly golf course burns ‘quite a bit of acreage’

BRUSLY, La. (West Side Journal) – Fire departments in West Baton Rouge Parish fought a massive brush fire on Choctaw Rd. on Sunday night.

The brush fire took place on the property of the West Side Golf Club.

West Baton Rouge Fire Chief Tim Crocket says the fire was under control Sunday evening but “quite a bit of acreage was burned.” 

Multiple fire departments assisted at the scene including Brusly and Port Allen. 

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Crockett says.
