It is National School Breakfast Week and Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome joined students for breakfast at IDEA Innovation on Friday morning.

The Mayor’s Office said, IDEA Innovation has “revamped their cafeteria menus to include more whole grains, lean meats, fruits and vegetables, and items that are less processed and locally sourced.”

The Executive Director of IDEA Public Schools Southern Louisiana also joined Mayor Broome at IDEA Innovation.

According to the Mayor’s Office, National School Breakfast Week “is a weeklong celebration of the National School Breakfast Program, permanently established in 1975 by an act of Congress.”

The breakfast ran from 7:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
