BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33)(FOX 44) – The number of COVID-19 cases in this state climbed to more than 10,000 this week, but as the numbers soar state-wide, mayor Sharon Weston-Broome reminded Baton Rouge there’s still hope.
“East Baton Rouge Parish demonstrates the most compliance with the stay at home orders,” Broome says. “Which is contributing to flatten the curve.”
In a news conference Friday morning, she not only reminded the city there’s light at the end of this tunnel, but there’s support too. The people in EBR parish will now be able to get COVID-19 text alerts using a hotline the mayor’s office designed.
The hotline is specifically for East Baton Rouge Parish, and it’ll give updates not only on the coronavirus, but the weather and any other critical information. All Baton Rouge residents have to do is send the redstickready text to (225) 243-9991 and wait for updates.
