It’s been a little more than a year in the making, but things are in motion for the MovEBR program.
Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome will announce the official beginning of project along with the official reveal of the website during a kick-off event Monday.
The event will also give disadvantaged business enterprises (small businesses owned by minorities, women, veterans, etc.) a chance to connect with program managers for contracts in the program.
Over the last several months, actions have been taken place to get the ball rolling with the project including an extra half-cent sales tax to help pay for a number of traffic reduction projects and two firms were confirmed to help with the plan.
MovEBR involves more than 70 projects throughout the parish, including widening major roads and synchronizing traffic signals.
The event is set to begin at 5:30 at the McKay Automotive Technology Center on North Lobdell.
