PHOENIX – A Fox45 meteorologist snapped on fans of The Bachelorette during the midst of a deadly storm.
After a tornado alert interrupted Monday night’s regularly scheduled show, meteorologist Jamie Simpson lashed out after fans shared their disapproval of the interruption on social media and demanded the channel returned to the ABC show.
“This is a dangerous situation, OK!“ meteorologist Jamie Simpson said after seeing the viewer’s comments on social media. “I’m done with you people, I really am. This is pathetic.“
Simpson said the complaints began almost immediately after the station cut in with live coverage of the tornado.
“It’s your own neighborhood. I’m sick and tired of people complaining about this,“ Simpson said. “Our job here is to keep people safe and that’s what were doing. Some of you complain that this is about my ego. Stop, OK?“
Even the Bachelorette herself, Hannah Brown, tweeted about the topic, standing behind Simpson’s rant.
“Lolz too funny, thanks Dayton, Ohio for the love, but be safe. naders are no joke,“ Brown tweeted.
Although some disagree with Simpson’s statement, his claim that it was a dangerous situation was correct. One person was killed and at least 130 were injured in the wrath of the storm, according to AP News. These deadly storms were among 55 twisters that forecasters said would touch down Monday in eight states.
Twitter was full of controversial tweets about the incident from Simpson but some praised him for his work. One user said: “Jamie Simpson deserves an award for this, this night has been scary as hell and he doesn’t even have to explain anything. He may have saved lives by having this rant and I for one am happy he did.“
Simpson later apologized for his rant on air.
“Alright, I’m sorry I did that,“ Simpson said. “It just really bothers me that we have people that don’t care about other’s safety around here.“
