The Miss Louisiana Scholarship Organization is reacting to the tragic death of beloved sports reporter Carley McCord. McCord
was one of 5 people who died in a plane crash in Lafayette Saturday morning. McCord was known for her vibrant career in sports, but
before taking the sports world by storm, she graced the pageant stage.
Miss Louisiana 2017 Laryssa Bonacquisti says, moments after hearing the tragic news of Carley being one of the five who didn’t
survive Saturday’s crash, she took to social media, share a picture of the last time she saw her friend and pageant sister.
McCord’s outgoing personality and skills she learned in the pageant organization helped her to touch the hearts of many.
“In my heart and the heart of everyone she impacted she is still with us and she will continue to be with us so even though she is gone.
I like to use present tense to remember the legacy that continues to live on,” said Bonacquisti.
Carley was a graduate of Louisiana State University and prior to that Northwestern State University. During at the University, she captured the title of
Miss Northwestern Lady of the Bracelet. The University has set up a memorial scholarship for other young women who are inspired to pursue a career in
