Miss Louisiana USA and Miss Louisiana Teen USA 2020 stop by the FOX 44 studio

BATON ROUGE, La. (WGMB) — In their first television appearance, the newest titleholders for Miss Louisiana USA and Miss Louisiana Teen USA appeared on FOX 44. The pair were crowned Saturday night in Luling.

Mariah Clayton, Miss Louisiana USA 2020, is a graduate student at Southeastern Louisiana University where she majors in psychology. The Zachary native graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southern University. She said she hopes to combine her love for athletics with psychology to become a licensed school counselor and high school volleyball coach.

While attending Southern, Clayton earned a full scholarship as a walk-on volleyball player. Ultimately becoming the team captain, she was named ‘Athlete of the Year.’

Sydney Taylor, Miss Louisiana Teen USA 2020, is a freshman at Louisiana State University. Taylor is a civil engineering major who plans to take over her family’s business one day.

Taylor was a basketball and softball player at Doyle High School in Livingston where she helped take the Lady Tigers to a state championship for softball.

Taylor said she hopes to spread awareness about her platform over the next year. “Raising the Barre” incorporates science and art to encourage children to reach their fullest potential.

Both ladies will compete in the national pageant in the spring of 2020.
