Modified Mother’s Day brunch gives local restaurants the boost they needed

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD)– Many local restaurants were busier than they expected this Mother’s Day despite the restrictions of the covid-19 pandemic. Mother’s Day brunch is a tradition that looked different this year. “The patio, we pretty much booked up unexpectedly every single table that we were able to fit out here with the distance in 10 feet,” Mansur’s Manager Ricky Galloway said.

“This was 110% the biggest day we have had since covid-19 started,” Mason’s Grill Manager Kristin Alfandre said. Customers waited in long lines while the restaurants prepared hundreds of to-go orders and served patrons dining outdoors. “We were definitely a little overwhelmed obviously with to go orders logistics are a little different, so the orders typically take twice as long because we have to box it up, things have to go in separate containers, It makes the process a little longer but we are happy to serve our customers,” Alfandre said.

Restaurant Managers were thrilled to get a boost they desperately needed. “This is actually Batch 13’s first day ever being open so it’s pretty much a first for us. So the team came in and they did pretty good, got all the food out, took care of some happy mothers, we did good today,” Batch 13’s General Manager Quenten Guillory said.

Overall, the managers described Mother’s Day 2020 as successful. “There’s nothing really to complain about it’s a beautiful day, people can get out and be with your families as opposed to being at home,” Galloway said.
