BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The trucks are unloading, and the line is long. At Collegiate Baton Rouge High School, every person is driving off with a free frozen turkey.

“We’re going to impact and bless about 150 families,” Councilman Cleve Dunn Jr., District 6 said.

The turkey drive is in its third year, and Council Member Cleve Dunn Jr. said with the help of community sponsors and volunteers, they can put smiles on families’ faces.

“We got the students involved and a lot of partners, community partners and stakeholders that are helping us and volunteer. Just have a good day,” Dunn said.

Karen Hamilton with Collegiate Baton Rouge, says the students involved are learning how to spread love through giving.

“They practice on community service, spreading joy, a lot of love. They get to see people in a community make that connection,” Hamilton said.

Volunteers will be needed this Christmas holiday to pass out food. Contact Dunn’s office for details.
