BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Scotlandville Magnet High School is providing students with an updated courtroom experience with the debut of their new student courtroom.
The new space is aimed at giving their students the tools they need to succeed.
The Center of Excellence for Government Affairs is a full-time, four-year full day program for students entering ninth grade and who are interested in law, law enforcement, the legal system, criminal investigation, forensics and the study of criminal intent. Students are exposed to the justice system, where they experience and practice in the only modern high school courtroom in the district, complete with a judges’ bench, jury box and deliberation room.
This program allows students an opportunity to experience partnerships with local law enforcement, attorneys, judges, legislators and other members of government-related professions.
Those who want to attend the unveiling are asked to make a reservation as space is limited, that can be done by calling the school at 225-775-3715 or by emailing pjackson@ebrschools.org.
The event will take place at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 30 at the high school.
