BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A Baton Rouge man has been arrested and faces multiple charges after a police pursuit spanned two parishes on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 19.
Kendrick Smith, 37, has been charged with second-degree kidnapping, aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, aggravated flight, resisting an officer and possession of a Schedule II drug.
Deputies were notified that a “woman was being held against her will,” according to the West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office. The pursuit started in West Baton Rouge Parish after a vehicle was seen on Lobdell Highway. WBRSO said the driver of the vehicle attempted to hit a police unit.
The chase ended in the 10000 block of Plaza Americana Drive in East Baton Rouge. Members of the Baton Rouge Police Department and EMS also were seen at this location.
The woman is being treated for her injuries, deputies said.
WBRSO confirmed that Smith is being booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Jail.
