Multiple fire departments respond to early morning fire on Coursey Blvd.

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department responded to a fire in the 12000 block of Coursey Blvd. around 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, August 9.

Upon arrival, firefighters immediately went work putting the fire out.

Eight total units, four pumpers and one ladder were used during this fire response.

It took 50 minutes to extinguish the fire and investigators determined that “the fire started in a garage that was not attached to a two-story townhome,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

The fire caused $150,000 in damages but thankfully no one was hurt.

BRPD says, “the fire spread to another garage but was extinguished before it could reach the townhome.”

BRPD, EMS, Entergy and the St. George Fire Department assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.

The investigation into what started the fire remains ongoing.
