Murder suspect arrested at apartment in Baton Rouge


DONALDSONVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) – An arrest has been made in connection with a deadly shooting that took place on November 12.

28-year-old Carlos Nicholas Jr., of Napoleonville, was arrested “at an apartment in Baton Rouge,” according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The arrest comes after an investigation that included multiple agencies.

These agencies assisted the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office with this case:

  • Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office
  • Baton Rouge Police Department
  • U.S. Marshalls Middle District Louisiana Fugitive Task Force

The investigation showed that deputies were called to the scene of a reported shooting a little before 10:30 p.m.

Deputies arrived on 3rd St. and “found James Bell, 39, deceased inside the residence after being shot multiple times,” according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Nicholas Jr. is facing these charges:

  • Second-Degree Murder
  • Possession of a Firearm By Convicted Felon

Nicholas Jr. is currently behind bars in the Ascension Parish Jail.
