NAACP hosts Souls to the Polls for voting on Saturday

(WGMB-WVLA)– Louisiana voters are only hours away from Election Day. The one race that everyone is keeping a close eye on is the Governor’s Race.
Michael McClanahan, Statewide President of the Louisiana NAACP says “Souls to the Poll” drives are underway this weekend, making sure those who need a lift, will get one.

According to McClanahan, transportation problems often keep sections of the electorate home.

Louisiana’s Gubernatorial race is expected to draw a large turnout.

Political analyst John Couvillon says it helps with the big turnout expected Saturday which numbers show it’s projected to be higher than the 2015 election.

McClanahan says the organization is bringing in every effort they can to make sure your voice is heard in this election.

“To be able to get people to the polls in Shreveport in Monroe Lafayette Alexandria, Baton Rouge New Orleans and Lake Charles,
it just warms my heart on this cold day,” said McClanahan.

If you need a ride to get to your polling location you can call the NAACP’s Hotline at (225) 246-8308
