BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) Nation of Patriots made their annual stop at the American Legion in Baton Rouge this weekend. The motorcycle enthusiasts carry with them an American flag that will make a 14,500 mile journey across the nation in 110 days. Their mission, to carry the flag with honor for veterans and also to raise money for veterans and their families. “Every dollar we raise here stays local in the Greater Baton Rouge Area. Since 2009 the nationwide Patriot Tour has raised one million dollars. The pit stop included a presentation of arms, and taps by the Baton Rouge Pipes and Drums. For Navy Veteran Dawn Reed, it was a reminder that she is grateful to be here and alive. “You’re hopeful you don’t come back in that box, God bless them, God bless all of them,” Reed said. For others, it was a gathering to show support and patriotism. “After 9/11 there were flags everywhere, I wish people felt like that every day,” Blue Stars Mother Member Debbi Delarosa said. Over the past ten years Nation of Patriots has helped at least 43 local families of veterans in need.
