HOUSTON, Tx (BRPROUD)- In the heart of the Third Ward community, many are gathered by the memorial mural of George Floyd, full of emotions after the former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin, was found guilty on all charges.
The streets of Third Ward begins to fill with friends and supporters to honor the life of George Floyd and to tell stories that they cherish the most.
These painting has become a landmark in the city of Houston, and brought joy to a broken community.
Ceci Munoz, a friend of George Floyd, in tears as the guilty verdict is announced.
“Please, please give us a chance, please stop killing us,” she pleaded in tears.
Jack Yates High School, the school where George Floyd attended and played on the football team, honored his legacy with a painting on the street with his jersey number.
