TOKYO, Japan (BRPROUD)- It is almost the beginning of a new week which means a full week of Olympic games is ahead of us.
What can we expect from Day three of the Olympics?
- Day three sees the awarding of the first ever gold medal in mixed doubles table tennis, one of 21 on offer. The first medals will also be given out in gymnastics with the men’s team final, while competition begins in rugby sevens.
USA lost to France 83-76 in their first game of the men’s basketball tournament, giving them their first Olympic loss since 2004.
Japan beats Mexico 2-1 in their meet-up in the Men’s Football tournament, bringing them to 6 points in the overall Group A standings. Mexico will face France in the next round.
China missed anchor ZHU Ting as the defending Olympic champions fell to Turkey in straight sets of the preliminary match.
USA faces Argentina.
USA Volleyball reported that “Assistant Coach Erin Virtue was missing from the bench. Virtue has been quarantined after it was determined she had been in ‘close contact’ with someone who tested positive for COVID. Coach Virtue has not tested positive for COVID-19 at this time.
USA beat Argentina 3-0.
Men’s Volleyball tournament is expected to kick off on Monday.
USA beats Japan 15-13, trailing by 3 in the third quarter. They go on to face South Africa in the next round at the Tatsumi Water Polo Centre.
Women’s Beach Volleyball (Pool B)
USA April Ross/ Alix Klineman, playing in their first Olympic match, takes on China Xue/ Wang.
USA defeats China, reaching 21 points first.
Ross/Klineman will play Spain on Tuesday.
USA takes on Argentina.
