VISALIA, California (KSEE/KGPE) – A Visalia woman was arrested Friday morning after assaulting a laundromat employee with a broomstick, police say.

Visalia police received a call at 10:52 a.m. from Bubbles and Bleach Laundromat, near Whitendale Avenue and Mooney Boulevard, after Ilene Ginger Shafer, 61, got into an argument with an employee, Sgt. Gary Williams said. She then removed her clothes from a washing machine, returned with a broomstick and struck an employee.

Responding officers found Shafer and took her into custody without incident. She was later booked at the Tulare County Jail and is facing an assault with a deadly weapon charge.
