“They’re going to run up to me and hug me. They are going to say Mar, Mar, it’s good to see you. Just look at you!” said Williams.

“I’m honored and I’m over excited because of the fact that she’s still here with us,” said her daughter Carol Legaux. “It really is a true blessing that she’s able to make it to this age. She’s always said if you honor your father and your mother, your days will be long on this earth.”

The mother of five is known as the queen in her joy to others around her.

“She has a memory too! And we are just learning new things every day. Full conversations about different things that she remembers from her childhood that I can’t recall,” Legaux said.

I asked Williams what advice she had for young people.

When asked on what advice she would give to young people, she said, “Don’t drink. Don’t have a smoke. Yes, ma’am. I never drink and I never smoked.”

She also urges people to treat their elders with respect. The Williams say she always took care of family, friends, and her neighbors when they needed her.
