New iPads at Baton Rouge General are allowing patients to reconnect with loved ones

BATON ROUGE La. (BRPROUD) – While those outside of the COVID-19 hospital units are returning to normal, patients in those units are still fighting the virus.

In many cases those patients are fighting without a loved one by their side.

A recent gift is looking to change that issue at one local hospital.

Baton Rouge General is providing 15 iPads for patients so they can catch up with their loved ones.

This was made possible through the Baton Rouge General Foundation’s COVID-19 Operations Fund.

BRG says, “each iPad is connected to an adjustable, rolling stand, and is used for patients in the ICUs and other inpatient area.”

This idea has been in the works since March of this year.

Another added bonus of the iPads is it allows “doctors and nurses to provide timely health updates,” according to Baton Rouge General.
