NEW ORLEANS, La. (WDSU) – For the first time in decades, the New Orleans Saints will have a coed cheerleading team on the field this season.
Different from the Saintsations dance team, men and women will perform gravity-defying stunts and tumbling in the Superdome.
Although the Saints had the team decades ago, the Saints are calling it “a new team of multi-talented entertainers.”
They will perform tumbling and stunting to enhance the gameday experience similar to what you would see the LSU cheerleaders do on the sidelines.
Anyone over 18-year-old may audition to make the team without any previous experience required.
All candidates must register online by 5 p.m. June 17.
Team members will be chosen by the end of the month.
“Our fans are eager to get back into the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and we want every facet of the game experience to be ready for them,” Saints President Dennis Lauscha said in a news release. “We’re always thinking of new ways that we can provide the best game day experience in the NFL. Expanding our entertainment teams to include cheerleaders and tumblers will bring even more energy and excitement to game day, and add to our legendary Dome Field Advantage.”
