NEW ORLEANS, La. (WDSU) — New Orleans will be moving into the next part of the phase 3 reopening.

City leaders announced Phase 3.3 starts on Wednesday.

Bars and breweries will now be allowed 25% indoor capacity with a 50 people maximum, and 100% outdoor capacity with a 50 people maximum.

Indoor gathering sizes, including weddings and funerals, are increased to 100 people.

Outdoor gathering sizes have been increased to 150.

Masks and at least six feet of social distancing are still required.

Indoor live entertainment is still not allowed in bars.

Dr. Jennifer Avegno says while cases are surging nationally, New Orleans is an outlier she believes, because of warmer weather and mask wearing becoming a norm.

Mayor LaToya Cantrell also addressed a large gathering in the French Quarter Saturday afternoon.

The mayor said city leaders reached out to organizers of the event, telling them not to come to New Orleans. The organizers were given a directive from the city that it would not be permitted.

The mayor says she’s been in touch with the NOPD and safety and permits to pursue every angle possible to hold the individuals accountable.
