BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – If you have driven down Government Street lately, you might have seen ongoing construction at the prevoius Cash America building. Tuan Pham and Hue Pham are are bringing Bagton Rouge a new barbecue option at Offset.smoker.bbq, 5335 Government St.
“Central Texas-style BBQ is known for its simplicity, emphasis on quality ingredients, and slow-cooking techniques.,” Tuan Pham said.
The meat cooking will be done in a “1000-gallon offset smoker from Primitive Pits in Georgia,” he said. The offset smoker was the inspiration for the name of their restaurant. Beef, pork, chicken and turkey will be cooked “with 100% post oak wood.”
The menu includes “briskets, pork ribs, pulled pork, chicken, turkey and in-house made sausages,” according to Tuan Pham. There will also be specials available, such as beef ribs. Sides will be “potato salad, coleslaw, beans and other seasonal veggies.”

What can guests expect the restaurant to look like? Tuan Pham said it will have a “dedicated smokehouse and front patio for serving.” There will not be any indoor seating at this location, and takeout will be available.
“We believe it’s a great way to create a unique and inviting space for our customers for the limited space that we have,” said Tuan Pham.
He said choosing a location on Government Street was a “no-brainer.” According to Pham, the growing food scene on Government Street “also presents opportunities for collaboration and partnerships with other businesses in the area.”
He said that they are aiming to open Offset.smoker.bbq early next year.
