Baton Rouge, LA (BRPROUD) A new web series follows the story of a Black, LGBTQ community surviving and thriving in the Deep South. ‘GRITS’ (gays raised in the south) is filmed in Plaquemine, Louisiana and is said to bring queerness to the forefront without shying away from the taboo.
“I wanted to write a love letter to my community, my second family- Black gay men raised in the south who are boldly and brilliantly thriving and surviving at the same time” said Greg Williams, Jr. who wrote, directed and produced the series. ”GRITS’ is my response to noticing a lack of representation of southern Black gay men in the deep south and I am so honored to be able to share it with everyone” he said.
GRITS is streaming now with more episode releases in the coming months.
