The new year is bringing in increased gas prices in Louisiana, and Baton Rouge drivers will see some of the steepest price increases in the region.
Gas prices in the city have risen 7.7 cents per gallon in the last week and now average $2.33 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 361 gas stations.
That means the current average is more than 10 cents higher than average prices were a month ago and nearly 50 cents higher than prices were one year ago.
The cheapest Baton Rouge station charges $2.11 per gallon, while the most expensive station charges $2.69 per gallon, GasBuddy determined.
Although the national trend points toward gas price decreases, the average national rate — $2.57 per gallon — is still pricier than Baton Rouge’s elevated average.
