Fire investigators determine arson is the cause of the blaze

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department is at the scene of a fire on Washington Ave.

The home is located at 2946 Washington Ave. near N. Acadian Thruway.

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, “firefighters arrived on scene to find the house of origin engulfed in flames.”

The call came in around 4:15 a.m.

It took firefighters around 25 minutes to put the fire out with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and two ladders.

The fire is under control and there are no reported injuries at this time.

Fire investigators have concluded that arson is the cause of the fire.

The vacant home is considered a total loss.

The home next store sustained $20,000 in damages.

BRPD says, “the neighboring home had four residents that were displaced.”

BRPD, EMS and the Red Cross assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
