Ochsner Health comments on COVID-19 procedures

Upcoming free community testing site schedule is provided within this story

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Testing for the coronavirus has become easier to find in the area.

Long lines have been par for the course at testing locations in the Capital City.

Dealing with COVID-19 is a fluid situation for many including Ochsner Health.

Ochsner Health is still offering free community testing but procedural changes have been made to better serve the community.

The hospital says that they “are trying to redirect asymptomatic patients out of the ER to our free community testing.  If you don’t have any symptoms, it’s not advisable to be in an ER.”

If you do make an emergency room visit, you will receive a bill.

The fact that the free community testing sites change locations so often makes it hard to always have an endless supply of testing kits at every location.

Ochsner Health moves around so much “in order to serve hot spots and/or under-tested areas.”

At this point, Ochsner Health is able to test up to 150 patients at each location during a 24 hour period.

With that in mind, Ochsner Health is providing an updated schedule which shows dates, times and locations for upcoming free community testing sites:
