Officers find multiple firearms in vehicle after wrong way driver leads officers on chase

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Nancy Augustus, 25, of Baton Rouge was arrested after leading officers on a chase through the Capital City.

Around 12:50 a.m., Augustus was seen driving a Mercedes in “the opposite lane of travel” on North Acadian Thwy W.

The 25-year-old pulled into the parking lot of Acadian True Value Hardware.

Officers approached the Mercedes at which point Augustus drove away.

A pursuit ensued that included running stop signs and driving “into oncoming lanes of travel.”

A BRPD officer saw the Mercedes pull “down an alley of a house located on Plank Rd.”

Augustus crashed the vehicle into a garbage dumpster and ran away on foot.

After a search of the area, officers were able to locate Augustus under a park box truck.

A search of the Mercedes led to the seizure of multiple firearms and a spent casing.

Augustus is facing these charges:

  • Aggravated Flight from an Officer
  • Resisting an Officer
  • Hit and Run

The 25-year-old has been released from the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
