BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – One person was killed and another was taken to a local hospital after an overnight crash, according to officials. The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office said the patient who was taken to the hospital is in critical condition.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office was called to the scene shortly after and later identified the victim in this crash as 56-year-old Aaron Lodge. Lodge was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash took place at the intersection of Bluebonnet Boulevard and Burbank Drive. EBRSO said that a Ford Focus struck a Hyundai Santa Fe.

The two-vehicle accident happened around 12:05 a.m., according to the St. George Fire Department.

According to the St. George Fire Department, “One vehicle rolled and was resting on its side in the ditch while the other was upright with front end damage.”

EMS, St. George Fire Department, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office and East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.

The investigation into this deadly crash remains open.
