BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating a deadly crash in the 400 block of Interstate 12.
The deadly crash took place at approximately 6 p.m. and took the life of 33-year-old Denadre Gilmore.
Gilmore was riding in a 2006 GMC 5500 with two other passengers when the crash took place.
Prior to the deadly crash, “the GMC was traveling west on Interstate 12 in the middle lane,” according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.
At some point, the GMC tried to change lanes but did not immediately see a vehicle in the lane they were trying to move into.
BRPD says, “Investigators believe that the driver of the GMC overcorrected his steering causing the vehicle to slide sideways.”
This caused the GMC to hit the inside barrier on I-12.
The GMC then “rolled onto the passenger side,” according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.
At the time of the accident, Gilmore was not properly restrained and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other two individuals were taken to a hospital and are expected to survive.
The investigation into this deadly crash remains open.
