Staff at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital will have an official blessing ceremony Friday morning and open their doors Saturday.
The six-floor state of the art facility has unique designs customed to Louisiana’s diverse culture with each floor representing a different ecosystem of Louisiana with colors and animal mascots.
Staff will consist of more than 100 pediatricians and 80 pediatric specialists and also include only 1 of 8 St.Jude affiliate clinics in the nation.
The more than 360,000 square foot hospital has 93 beds including the intensive care unit, family resource center and playrooms on each floor.
More than 100,000 patients are treated each year and officials expect to see more than 35,000 in the emergency room as its the region’s only 24/7 pediatric emergency room.
The blessing ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. and doors will officially open Saturday at 6 a.m.
