Our Lady of the Lake enacted new visitor guidelines Saturday that restrict most visitors from OLOL facilities indefinitely due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The only exceptions, which are limited to one visitor, are for pediatric patients, patients nearing the end of their lives, patients with special needs identified by the clinical care team and certain critically ill patients, according to the hospital.
The hospital encourages people who are ineligible for visitation to stay in contact with patients by nonphysical means, such as through phone calls, video chats or cards.
Visitors must undergo a temperature check and answer questions about their own medical condition before entering the facility.
All OLOL physicians and other team members must also undergo temperature checks and answer screening questions before entering the hospital.
