Overnight fire on Colorado St. ruled arson

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to 1952 Colorado St. around 12:30 a.m. on Monday, December 13.

According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, “Firefighters arrived on scene to find a shed fully engulfed in flames.”

Along with the shed being on fire, flames were also seen coming from the residence.

The house was empty when firefighters arrived at the scene.

Firefighters immediately went to work putting the fire out with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.

BRFD says, “The owner arrived while fire suppression was occurring.”

It took firefighters around 30 minutes to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading and the home sustained $50,000 in damages.

The owner of the home “stated he was in the process of renovating the home,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

Fire investigators concluded that arson was the cause of this fire.

BRPD, EMS and Entergy assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
