BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to a reported fire around 12:50 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27.

“Firefighters arrived on the scene to find light smoke coming from the vacant duplex,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

The duplex was located at 1215 and1217 Eddie Robinson Sr. Dr.

BRFD used seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder to attack the fire.

Firefighters “made their way to the rear and found fire coming from the bottom of the door,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

BRFD says, “Once inside they discovered that the fire had traveled to the shared attic.”

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in a little over an hour.

BRFD says “They were able to contain the fire damage to the rear and attic of the duplex.”

The duplex sustained smoke and water damage as well as an estimated $100,000 in damages.

Fire investigators were called in and they determined that arson was the cause of the early morning fire.

There were no reported injuries related to this fire.

BRPD, EMS and Entergy assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
