Arrest made in case of pedestrian hit while running away from gunshots, police say




A 24-year-old Baton Rouge man is facing an Attempted 2nd Degree Murder charge after Thursday’s incident on West Johnson St.

Brandon Lang, of 825 West Johnson St. “was involved in a verbal altercation in the 400 block of West Johnson St. with an unidentified individual around 1:30p.m.” on November 7.

Lang got in his vehicle and attempted to leave the scene.

BRPD said, Lang “sped away at a high rate of speed and struck a 31-year-old female pedestrian.”

Right before Lang hit the pedestrian, an unknown person fired their gun.

The 31-year old woman remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

Lang was arrested on Thursday night and is currently in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

The investigation is still open and more information will be provided if it becomes available.


Baton Rouge Police detectives are investigating a pedestrian hit.

It happened around 2:00 p.m. Thursday near 400 West Johnson.

Investigators say someone was shooting from a car trying to get away from the area.

They say that car hit someone.

They believe the car then drove off after hitting the pedestrian.

That person’s condition is unknown at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
