Pedestrian killed while trying to cross I-12 East

HOLDEN, La. (BRPROUD) – A 45-year-old woman from Louisiana was killed on Sunday night in Livingston Parish.

Kimberly Stanton, of Holden died after being hit by a 2018 Hyundai Sonata on I-12.

The deadly crash took place at milepost 27 and members of the Louisiana State Police arrived on scene around 7 p.m.

The 45-year-old woman was heading eastbound on I-12 prior to the accident taking place.

A 2018 Hyundai Sonata was heading in the same direction when Stanton tried to cross I-12 East.

The Hyundai Sonata hit Stanton and the 45-year-old died at the scene.

The driver of the Sonata was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and did not sustain any injuries.

Investigators are awaiting toxicology results from the pedestrian who was killed and the driver of the Hyundai Sonata.
