Researchers at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center are looking for participants in a new study analyzing the risk factors associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
To qualify for this research study, participants should:
- Be an African American 65 – 85 years of age
- Be capable of regular physical activity
- Not taking part in regular physical activity
RAATE study participants will visit the Pennington Biomedical Outpatient Clinic for an orientation visit prior to enrolling in the study. Once enrolled, participants will be randomly assigned for 1 year to either a physical activity program or a successful aging program.
Physical activity sessions will take place at a local community setting twice per week and participants will also be asked to complete at home physical activities that will slowly increase over time. Successful aging participants will attend group sessions once per week for 6 months and then twice a month for 6 months.
