EAST CHINA SEA (March 27, 2020) Landing Signalman, Enlisted U.S. Navy Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Nicholas Lee, from Baton Rouge, La., directs an MH-60 Sea Hawk helicopter, assigned to the “Warlords” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 51, as it takes off on the flight deck aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS McCampbell (DDG 85) during a vertical replenishment training. McCampbell is underway conducting operations in the Indo-Pacific region while assigned to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy’s largest forward-deployed DESRON and the U.S. 7th Fleet’s principal surface force. The Navy Office of Community Outreach has shared a photo of Baton Rouge native Sailor Nicholas Lee directing a helicopter in the East China Sea as it takes off on the flight deck aboard guided-missile destroyer USS McCampbell.

The landing took place during a vertical replenishment training. McCampbell is underway conducting operations in the Indo-Pacific region while assigned to a Destroyer Squadron, the Navy’s largest forward-deployed Destroyer Squadron, and the U.S. 7th Fleet’s principal surface force.
