Planned Parenthood launches new sex ed chatbot

News

Planned Parenthood has released a new sexual health app to help teens get answers to question they might not be normally comfortable asking.

The Roo sexual health chatbot is a first of its kind website that is available 24-7 for teens.

It is designed for 13 to 17 year olds but can be used by anyone with questions about sexual and reproductive health.

This chatbot serves as a bridge to those who don’t have sex ed requirements in their schools.

“You don’t always learn about this in school,” said Debora McDell-Hernandez, senior director of community and public affairs. “Sex ed is not a requirement in all New York state schools.

So, it’s nice and convenient to use this on the bus, in the classroom — wherever you happen to be.”

As more users interact with the app, the chatbot will continue to evolve and be able to answer even more questions on more topics.
