Plaquemine Ferry is back in service and DOTD asks that ‘motorists wear face masks when boarding a ferry on the toll collection side’

PLAQUEMINE, La. (BRPROUD) – If you usually use the Plaquemine Ferry, you should be ok for your evening commute.

The ferry was briefly closed on Friday morning for about an hour.

DOTD is requesting that drivers wear masks when getting on the ferry. Details can be found below:

DOTD says, “the second Plaquemine Ferry is out of service for approximately 8 weeks for mechanical repairs.”

The normal schedule for the Plaquemine Ferry is below:

Mon-Fri: 4:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Sat-Sun: 9:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Additional Ferry: Mon-Fri: 5:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. & 3:15 p.m. – 7:15 p.m.

Plaquemine – Departs :00 and :30
Sunshine – Departs :15 and :45
Operates on demand during peak traffic hours.
