Plaquemine Ferry suspending service after noon on Saturday

PLAQUEMINE, La. (BRPROUD) – Hurricane Ida is forcing a lot of changes to occur in our area.

One of those changes in the schedule includes the temporary closure of the Plaquemine Ferry.

DOTD is providing details about when the closure will occur below:

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that the Plaquemine ferry will have altered hours of operation on Saturday, August 28. The ferry will operate from 7:00 am until 12:00 pm. After noon Saturday, the ferry will be temporarily closed to secure the vessel in safe harbor ahead of dangerous weather conditions due to Tropical Storm Ida. The ferry will remain closed until conditions are safe for operations to resume.
