A 911 call rocked the city of Baton Rouge Tuesday Morning.
“They’re shooting ma’am they’re shooting,” a woman told the 911 operator.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office responded to reports saying there was a shooting at Walmart on Burbank Dr.
“They’re shooting! Oh my God,” the woman continues to the the operator.
After investigating what was reported as a shooting, EBRSO concluded that “investigators do not believe a shooting incident occurred at the Wal-Mart.”
Witnesses say differently.
“They started shooting and I just ran out the store,” Walmart employee David Ortiz said.
Ortiz says he was working when he saw shots fired.
“It’s just like scary it’s just I can’t believe it. I wouldn’t think it would happen at our Walmart or at our job or anything in this area,” he said.
Dana Jones says while she didn’t see the shooting for herself, she did hear gunshots.
“We literally froze and we heard pop pop pop pop,” Jones said.
She says as soon as everyone realized what was going on they dropped everything and ran.
“I left my purse, my wallet, my tablet, my cane,” she said.
Becoming emotional, Jones says she started to wonder what would’ve happened if she had been shot.
“I was just thinking am I going to see a family member am I going to see my mom or my brother. you should be able to go to a church a movie a shopper center a Walmart of all places,” she said.
