HAMMOND, La. (BRPROUD) – The Hammond Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at a local AT&T store.

The armed robbery took place around 10 a.m., on Friday, May 6, at a store located at 2807 West Thomas St.

“Upon arrival, HPD officers learned that an unknown black male—wearing a dark hoodie jacket, dark pants, face masks and gloves—entered the business armed with a firearm and told an employee and a customer to move to the rear of the business,” according to the Hammond Police Department.

After that, the store employee was forced to open and empty a secured safe.

The suspect made off with Apple and Samsung products.

HPD says, “The suspect left the business using a side door and proceeded to run towards the parking lot of Lowe’s.”

Investigators are asking the public to be on the lookout for the vehicle pictured below.

HPD believes that the pictured vehicle was the getaway vehicle for the suspect.

“The suspect’s vehicle appears to be a black Chevrolet Avalanche,” according to the Hammond Police Department.
