Police: Louisiana man stole semi and took girlfriend for a ride

West Monroe Police arrested a Monroe man after they say he stole a semi truck and took his girlfriend out for a ride.

Dominique Jefferson, 21 of Monroe, was arrested on March 24, 2019.

According to the arrest report, on March 24, 2019, West Monroe Police stopped a 2010 Freightliner tractor truck, pulling a 2010 Silver Clement dump trailer. The tractor truck was headed down Mitchell Street with its trailer tires locked up, causing the trailer to leave long black marks on the roadway.

Once the truck stopped, the driver was identified as Dominique Jefferson. Officers determined Jefferson did not have a CDL and that he was borrowing the tractor truck to take his girlfriend for a ride along. When officers asked where the truck came from, Jefferson said he took it from MTM Trucking Company on Well Road.

Jefferson said he took the tractor truck without permission but planned on returning it later in the morning.

Jefferson was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on a $10,000 bond and charged with one count theft of a motor vehicle.
