BATON ROUGE, La. (NBC Local 33)(Fox 44) – It seems a new face will represent state senate district 16 in the legislature.
“I’m very excited, it’s been a long race, I had some very strong opponents and we ran a very positive campaign. We talked about our record and we won. I’m very excited about moving forward to the State Senate” said Foil.
Foil was in a runoff with Democrat Beverly Brooks-Thompson.
“It was a lot of drama, but, every vote count. To get into the runoff, I won by four votes and I reminded people it was so important, and our people came out to vote in the election today and I am very excited about being victorious.”
The two made the runoff after having a recount back in October following the primary election.
“I didn’t know where we would end up, but I felt very positive because we had a lot of positive support. We worked to get our people out to vote for me and I’m going to carry my experience to the senate and I’m really excited about” said Foil.
Foil is replacing outgoing Dan Claitor who was term limited in the senate.
Foil recently served in the state house of representatives.
Senate district 16 covers a chunk of Baton Rouge.
