BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome has endorsed Governor’s race candidate Shawn Wilson.
“Dr. Shawn Wilson is the leader we need to get things done. As Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) Secretary, he prioritized the needs of everyday people in Baton Rouge. Our city’s growth has been made possible by critical infrastructure improvements to improve our quality of life. The various expansions of I-10 and other highways in the region have improved traffic flow considerably for hundreds of thousands of Louisianans. We can’t risk going backward. That’s why I’m proud to endorse Dr. Wilson,” said Broome.
Wilson has gotten endorsements from Gov. John Bel Edwards, Congressman Troy Carter, State Sen. Jay Luneau and Public Service Commissioner Davante Lewis.
“I am proud to have received the endorsement of Baton Rouge’s Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome who has been a longtime advocate for improved public safety and education in Baton Rouge and I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to collaborate with her on infrastructure projects to ease congestion in the Capitol area and beyond,” said Wilson.
Wilson announced his run for governor on Monday, March 6. He is running for the seat against Attorney General Jeff Landry, State Treasurer John Schroder, State Rep. Richard Nelson, Stephen Waguespack, State Sen. Sharon Hewitt and Hunter Lundy.
