BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Republican governor’s race candidate Stephen Waguespack received an endorsement from Rep. Garret Graves on Wednesday.
In a video with Waguespack, Graves said he gives his full endorsement. “He’s the person in this race who can put politics aside, do what’s right and give us the Louisiana we deserve,” Graves said in the endorsement video.
On Thursday, March 9, Waguespack announced his resignation from the head of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry and his decision to run for governor. The Gonzales native previously spent 10 years working on Capitol Hill and five years working for former Gov. Bobby Jindal before working for LABI.
Waguespack joins a handful of Republican candidates in the running: Attorney General Jeff Landry, Treasurer John Schroder, state Sen. Sharon Hewitt and state Rep. Richard Nelson in the running. Independent attorney Hunter Lundy and Democrat candidate former DOTD Secretary Shawn Wilson are also in the running.
Election day is set for Oct. 14.
