Prairieville, La (WVLA/WGMB) – A Prairieville businessman is getting national recognition.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce awarded James J. Moore, owner of Expert Maintenance & Construction Services, LLC, with the 2019 Dream Big Awards Minority-Owned Business Achievement Award during its annual Dream Big Awards Celebration, presented by MetLife. The annual awards ceremony celebrates the achievements of small businesses and honors their contributions to America’s economic growth.

Moore is a lifelong resident of Prairieville. He created EMCS in 2005, starting with just two employees. Since then, Moore has earned an 8(a) certification from the U.S. Small Business Administration along with Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certifications from Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi. Because of the opportunities afforded by the SBA certifications, Moore has been able to collaborate with subcontractors across the country to work on millions of dollars in federal contracts, including projects with FEMA, USDA, US Army Corps of Engineers, US Air Force, and US Navy.

The 2019 Dream Big Award recognizes standout Minority-Owned Small Businesses from across the country for their dedication to their communities and contributions to restoring jobs and supporting economic growth.

Award winners were selected by a panel of judges from nineteen finalists (out of over 430 across the U.S.) in consideration for each of the six Business Achievement Awards and the one Dream Big Small Business of the Year Award. All finalists were also eligible for the Community Excellence Award, which was decided through online public voting.

“The Dream Big Awards celebrate the very best in American small business – the innovators, risk takers, dreamers, and doers who contribute to our country’s growth and prosperity,” said Tom Sullivan, U.S. Chamber vice president of small business policy. “The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is proud to honor small businesses across the country who embody the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship. Thank you for all you do, and congratulations to Strata-G and all of our award finalists.”

Award winners were announced at the Dream Big Awards Celebration on Wednesday, October 16 in Washington, D.C. as part of the 2019 at CO—Summit for Small and Growing Businesses, which took place at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
