A local photographer is getting some international attention these days. Andy Crawford was recently chosen by a jury for his featured fine art photography on an international art website.
ArtsyShark.com is a website dedicated to promoting and educating artists and photographers worldwide. Featured artists are selected through a competitive juried system in which a board of artists and photographers select fewer than 200 artists and photographers from about 1,200 applicants each year.
For his part, Crawford says he is honored to have been selected. The Prairieville photographer has spent several decades travelling and capturing photographs of the natural beauty that is all around us.
Most of his time is spent “slopping around the South Louisiana swamps”, taking breathtaking photos of our Sportsman’s Paradise. But he’s also traveled the country, capturing photos in the majestic Smoky Mountains and even the deserts of the Southwest.
Crawford says his inspiration comes from above, thankful he can capture the amazing beauty of God’s creation. “I truly believe nature is evidence of a creative and active God,” Crawford said. “It’s impossible for me to believe that the splendor of a sunrise or sunset, the never-ending flow of an amazing waterfall or the stunning vistas of places like Canyonlands National Park are accidents.”
Crawford’s goal is to transport those who see his photos to the amazing, wonderful places he captures…to make them feel like they are there and experiencing these places for themselves.
