BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – EBRSO Lieutenant Terryl Carter, Sr. died on Tuesday, July 7.

Carter, Sr. was a longtime EBRSO Sheriff’s Deputy who died from a heart attack at the age of 53.

Carter, Sr. most recently supervised the school resource officers in the Central School District.

Lt. Carter’s body was flown from Memphis to New Orleans and then driven back to Baton Rouge.

On Monday, July 13, a procession was held in Baton Rouge for Lt. Carter.

The escort route went down O’Neal to Central Thruway.

Lt. Carter’s funeral is Thursday at Healing Place Church on Highland Rd.

The viewing is from 7 a.m – 11 a.m. with the funeral starting at 11 a.m.

The burial is taking place at the Winnfield Funeral Home located at 7221 Plank Rd.

The family is asking people to make a donation to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

The donation can be made out to the Terryl Maurice Carter, Sr. Memorial Fund.
